Abstract The Belle II experiment aims to discover new physics processes not described by the standard model of particle physics, based on measurements of unprecedented precision with B and D mesons, and τ leptons. The experiment started recording SuperKEKB collisions in 2018. This e+e- collider targets the highest ever achieved instantaneous luminosity, based on a new nano-beam collision scheme. In this context, this thesis contributed to the preparation of future physics measurements in the Belle II experiment. First, we measured the beam induced background, based on measurements provided by a double- sided pixelated detector, equipped with CMOS sensors. This study is very important in order to achieve the ambitious physics program of Belle II, because this beam induced background may damage the detectors and worsen the reached experimental precision. Then, we studied the reconstruction performance of the K0S meson, which is a key ingredient of the Belle II physics program. Early collision data were used to rediscover the first K0S with the Belle II experiment.
