1260.	Performance tuning of photon sensor and readout electronics and evaluation of photon detection efficiency for Belle II TOP counter (in Japanese) / Rikuya Okuto [BELLE2-MTHESIS-2019-008] Presented on 14 02 2019 MSc 2019 Nagoya university / Nagoya Belle II 実験ではe+e􀀀 衝突から生じるB 中間子対を500 億事象という世界最高統計量で収集し、その 希崩壊過程を精密に測定することで標準模型を超える新事象の探索を行う。重いB 中間子崩壊の終状態に 多く含まれる比較的軽いK/ 中間子の識別を高い効率で行う必要があるため、我々は新型粒子識別装置 Time-Of-Propagation (TOP) カウンターを導入し、識別効率95% 以上、誤識別率5% 以下での識別を目指す。 TOP カウンターは石英輻射体とその端面に取り付けた光検出器Micro-Channel-Plate (MCP) -PMT で構 成されている。石英輻射体K= が通過する際に異なる放出角で発生するチェレンコフ光子を光検出器で20 個 程度検出し、その検出時間・位置情報を用いて粒子識別を行う。この際検出光子を10% 損失すると1{2% 程 度識別効率が低下してしまうので、識別性能最大化のために光子数の十分な確保が重要となる。 光子検出システムを構成する読み出し回路とMCP-PMT の性能は個別にテストベンチで精査されてきた。 次の段階の研究として私はインストール後の性能評価と光子検出システム全体の調整を行った。さらに初衝突 運転データを用いてTOP カウンターの光子検出能力を包括的に評価した。 光子検出能力の主な要素は、読み出し回路単体の読み出し効率と、MCP-PMT の増幅率及び閾値で決まる信 号弁別効率である。まず、疑似信号を用いて読み出し効率を評価し、これが74{80% であることを示した。さ らに、この非効率は読み出し回路上の信号判定機構に起因することを指摘し、それを受けた改善によって読み 出し効率を最大100% にできることを示した。次に、1 光子レベルに減光したレーザーを用いてMCP-PMT の増幅率を調整し、信号弁別効率の目標90% 以上を全MCP-PMT で実現した(図1)。 最後に、初衝突運転データに含まれるe+e􀀀 ! +􀀀 事象でのTOP カウンターの検出光子数分布をシミュ レーションと比較し、本研究で評価した効率の影響を省いた場合に平均光子数が8{20% の範囲で一致してい ることを示した(図2)。また、 粒子の入射角度・位置などの条件に対しては期待通りに応答していることを 示した。 本研究により、光子検出の観点で衝突運転時のTOP カウンターの性能を評価し、課題を分析することがで き、目標の粒子識別性能の実現につながった。 Fulltext: PDF; Detailed record - Similar records
