Search for BSM physics with radiative B decays in Belle II

Abstract: The Belle II experiment is designed for the indirect new physics searches via precision measurements of the e+e- collisions, particularly the B-meson decays. It will register first collisions delivered by the SuperKEKB accelerator in 2018 aiming at collecting of 50ab−1 integrated luminosity in 2025. This high luminosity will boost sensitivity on new physics searches beyond the Standard Model via high precision measurements in the b- and c-quark and the tau-lepton sectors and searches for rare signal events. In this contribution we present the status of the Belle II detector readiness and the expected sensitivity to new physics using b to s gamma processes. In the Standard Model the b to s gamma transitions are going only through the quantum loop. For the \bar{B}-meson the radiated photon is predominantly left-handed for the Standard model due to its chiral structure. Some new physics scenarii feature a different chiral structure and thus may lead to deviations from the Standard expectation by introducing different photon polarizations in the transition, and can be probed via experimental measurements of time-dependent CP violation (TDCPV) parameters. The precision of the previous b-factories, BaBar and Belle, on the b to s gamma TDCPV parameters was limited by statistical uncertainty. This motivates us to redo these measurements using the high integrated luminosity from SuperKEKB and upgraded Belle II detector.
