This talk presents recent world-leading physics results from Belle II searches for tau decays into a scalar non-SM particle and a lepton. Perspectives on tests of lepton (flavor) universality and other searches for non-SM physics in tau decays are also outlined. 000003127 8560_ $$fdjaffe@bnl.gov 000003127 8564_ $$uhttps://docs.belle2.org/record/3127/files/BELLE2-TALK-CONF-2022-077.pdf
