A competitive measurement of the mass of the tau lepton is reported based on a a small data set, and studies for world-leading measurements of tau lifetimes, foreseen with significantly less data than collected at Belle and Babar, are discussed. Perspectives on tests of lepton (flavor) universality and other searches for non-SM physics in tau decays are also outlined. 000002840 8560_ $$fdjaffe@bnl.gov 000002840 8564_ $$uhttps://docs.belle2.org/record/2840/files/BELLE2-TALK-CONF-2022-013.pdf
