Abstract: Studies of rare processes in the flavor domain at B-factories provide excellent opportunities to look for effects beyond the standard model that complement direct searches at the energy frontier. The talk presents recent measurements of $B$-physics observables sensitive to BSM scalars in leptonic and semileptonic $B$ decays, based on the data sample containing 772 million $B\bar{B}$ pairs collected in the Belle detector. Prospects for the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB collider with a design luminosity of $8\times 10^{35}$ cm$^{-2}$s$^{-1}$, aiming to record 50 ab$^{-1}$ of data, a factor of 50 more than its predecessor, are also discussed.
