Abstract: We report on the first reconstruction of a B charmless signal in Belle II. We use MC12 simulation to devise an optimized selection to be applied to the full (Phase 3) data set collected in 2019, corresponding to 5.61 fb −1 of integrated luminosity. The m bc distribution of the resulting sample, restricted in ∆E, is fit to search for a B → Kπ charmless signal. A total signal yield of approximately 28 decays is reconstructed, corresponding to a statistical significance of XX standard deviations. The signal yield is moderately (31%) inferior to those expected from simulation, with comparable backgrounds. This constitutes the first reconstruction of a charmless signal in Belle II and is proposed for public showing at the Beauty 2019 conference.
