Abstract: Belle II is a detector coupled to the SuperKEKB electron-positron accelerator, located in Tsukuba, Japan. From April to July of 2018, Belle II completed the Phase II of commissioning in which ~500 pb-1 of data was recorded. Phase III will start in 2019 and, by 2027, a dataset of 50 ab-1 is expected. This large dataset will provide a unique opportunity to study tau lepton physics with high precision. In this talk, the tau lepton rediscovery and mass measurement using the Phase II data will be presented, followed by a review of the tau physics program for Phase III.
