000001030 520__ $$aThe Belle II experiment is taking first collision data in 2018. This is an exciting time for the collaboration and allows to not only assess the performance of accelerator and detector, but also of the computing system and the software. Is Belle II ready to quickly process the data and produce physics results? Which parts are well prepared and where do we have to invest more effort? The collaboration was founded ten years ago in 2008. At that time also a broader discussion about the software and computing started. The software development history involves (revisions of) decisions about the framework, the event data model, the geometry package, the conditions data handling, the development infrastructure, the coding conventions, and the release procedures. We will take a look back, assess the decisions from the current point of view, and tell the lessons learned, including those from first data analyses. Based on this experience, we will also anticipate further challenges and present the plans to resolve them.
