Abstract We report the measurements of branching fraction ($\mathcal{B}$) and direct $\CP$-violating asymmetry ($\ACP$) in the charmless decays $\Bz\to K^0\pi^0$ at Belle~II. A sample of $\ep\en$ collisions, corresponding to $189.8\invfb$ of integrated luminosity, collected near the $\Upsilon(4S)$ resonance is used for the study. We find $135$ signal candidates, and measure $\ACP = -0.41_{-0.32}^{+0.30}\stat \pm 0.07\syst$ and $\mathcal{B}(\Bz \to \Kz \piz) = [10.8 \pm 1.2 \stat \pm 1.0 \syst] \times 10^{-6}$.
